I used to like the yuletide season. Christmas carols, eggnog, pretty lights, all that jazz. But this year, I’m just not feeling it.
Maybe its the commercialization. All the ads I see about what you should BUY BUY BUY. And all the fretting about what you’re going to get. I actually heard a radio ad refer to Thanksgiving as “Thanks-getting.” It’s exhausting.
Maybe its just the climate of the world. It seems like the world is not a place for peace and joy and goodwill toward our fellow humans anymore. We get riled up about red cups and imaginary wars on Christmas and not at all about the things that are really important. It’s depressing.
Maybe I’m just turning into a cranky old man who wants elves to stay the hell off his lawn.
Nevertheless, I’m feeling decidedly Grinchy this year. Bah, humbug.
