The Solstice Slug: An Idea Whose Time Has Come

Today is the first day of summer, and it occurred to me that it is one of the few holidays (well, at least, former “holy days”) that didn’t have it’s own anthropomorphized demi-being  to distribute tasty treats to folks in celebration. Spring has the Easter Bunny. Winter has St. Nick. Fall–well, you got Halloween, which kind of goes there with everybody distributing tasty treats to anthropomorphized demi-beings. But nothing for the Summer Solstice.

This inequity can not stand.

So, I put my thoughts out into the Twittersphere and got a great response from my friend Shawn (aka VanHalen1970): “What, like the Solstice Slug…distributing salty pretzel treats?”

Perfect!

So, without further ado, my artful rendition of the Solstice Slug:

Solstice Slug

Yes, those are pretzels…

So, if you are good little girls and boys, you may be visited by our special summer friend who will leave a vibrant trail of salty goodness at your door…

If you have a better rendering of the Solstice Slug, by all means link to it in the comments. I’d love to see it!

About Shedrick

I am a professional librarian and a part-time writer that's working to do that the other way around. I currently live in North Texas in the lovely city of Denton (“The Home of Happiness“) with my lovely wife and the obligatory demon-spawn cats. When not writing, gaming, or watching cheezy kung-fu flicks, I can sometimes be found in a pub (or the American equivalent) enjoying a fine brew.
