Mixed Mail Bag

Today’s mail bag was a decidedly balanced mix of news for the Serial Distractions Mule-skinning/Marmot-tanning/Sno-Cone Stand™.

First up was another rejection on a story that I’ve had some high hopes for. It’s gotten some positive feedback from past rejections and got me an “honorable mention” in the recent Writers of the Future contest. Even with the positive nods, no one wants to buy it. Now I need to decide if I want to workshop the story or go ahead try another set of markets.

Shiny!

Coupled with the rejection note was the actual certificate from Writers of the Future. It is very shiny and definitely takes a bit of the sting off the rejection. It’s very nice and an honor–though, to be honest, I’d prefer a sale 🙂
