First a Random Blog, Next The World!

I have achieved another small step in my plan for world media domination…

About a year ago I wrote a nice little review for The Inferior–honestly the best book about cannibalism that I have ever encountered.

Today I’ve found that the author (Peadar Ó Guilín) has mentioned my review in the blog “Talk About Random” (the behind-the-scenes book blog for Random House Children’s Books UK):

Once upon a time, a kind man called Shedrick Pittman-Hassett, began a review of my first novel, The Inferior, like this:

“Irish writer Peadar Ó Guilín first came to my attention with his story “The Evil Eater” in Black Gate No. 13 […] It was a lovely little bit of Lovecraftian horror that still haunts me a bit to this day.”

Why thank you, Shedrick! But the point is, the blogger had bought my novel only because he had already seen my unpronounceable name between the covers of a short-story magazine, and now, with my second book, The Deserter, straining at the leash, I’m wondering where I can find other readers just like him.

Thank you for enjoying and remembering my review, Peadar!

About Shedrick

I am a professional librarian and a part-time writer that's working to do that the other way around. I currently live in North Texas in the lovely city of Denton (“The Home of Happiness“) with my lovely wife and the obligatory demon-spawn cats. When not writing, gaming, or watching cheezy kung-fu flicks, I can sometimes be found in a pub (or the American equivalent) enjoying a fine brew.

  1. Peadar says:

Nope, the pleasure — like everything else in the world you hope to dominate — is all mine :p
