What’s Snoo?

It’s been a few days…well, really about a week…since my last post so I thought I’d bring you up to date.

I’ve been working on the 250 words-per-day challenge and it has, in fact, been just that…a challenge.  After the first week or so I was tempted to go ahead and throw in the towel and remove the badge from my site.  However, I decided to give myself another week; it takes time to re-teach myself good habits, after all.  This past week has been much better…I’ve written at least 250 words everyday since last Saturday <insert fist pump here>.

One big motivator for this increase in input was ConDFW, which took place this past weekend.  ConDFW was my first “writerly” science fiction con and holds a special place in my heart.  This was my third year to attend.  With all the creative energy, great panels, and friendly author/guests, I couldn’t help but be inspired.  I hope to write-up a con report soon.

I still have four stories in rotation to a variety of markets.  I had hoped to have gotten my first fiction sale by this year’s ConDFW, but, alas, no joy.  However I did receive a “maybe” on one of my stories.  Essentially I was told that the eZine’s reading period lasts through February 28th and that mine was one of the stories they were hanging on to until then.  Please provide tribute to whatever deities or pan-dimensional beings you feel comfortable with on my heathen behalf.

My current project is a short urban fantasy piece that I’m thinking about shopping to an anthology.  It’s my first foray into that subgenre and I’m having a bit of fun with it.  I read what I have so far at this week’s workshop and it got a good reaction, so naturally I’m quite pleased.  I’m also working on cleaning up some of the work I did for NaNoWriMo last year.  It’s more of a vanity project but still a bit of fun for me and my friends.

So, in case you were wondering, that’s what’s snoo.  What’s snoo with you?

About Shedrick

I am a professional librarian and a part-time writer that's working to do that the other way around. I currently live in North Texas in the lovely city of Denton (“The Home of Happiness“) with my lovely wife and the obligatory demon-spawn cats. When not writing, gaming, or watching cheezy kung-fu flicks, I can sometimes be found in a pub (or the American equivalent) enjoying a fine brew.
