Ah, fall is in the air…even here in North Texas where summer’s been known to sprawl lazily into October. November brings the changing of the leaves (though, most of the leaves here on the prairie are pretty scrubby), cooler temperatures, the smell of turkey, and the undulations of the Cult of the Holy Pigskin (I’m agnostic on the subject of the Leather Ovoid, BTW.  I don’t begrudge those that indulge, but none for me, thanks…). 

November also brings NaNoWriMo (or National Novel Writing Month for those who hate clever abbreviations).  I am way behind on my prep, so I’m pretty nervous.  Plus, throw in a visit from family and the upcoming holiday, and I despair of my chances to complete my 50,000 words this time.  We’ll see.  As a result of NaNo, I may not be blogging as much.  I’ll try to post some words on my progress or if any news comes up, but it may be a bit quiet here in the Serial Distractions Cuban Bistro/Dance-Studio/Hamster Habitat Repair Shoppe™. 

However…I will also be posting some links regarding author Kevin Lucia and his novel Hiram Grange and the Chosen One.  Kevin is the reviews editor at Shroud Magazine Book Reviews (where I’ve been known to appear from time to time).  He also edited the beautiful Autumn issue of Shroud. 

Hiram Grange is very unique project.  Several different authors have taken the character of Hiram (a drug-addled, perverse, unlikely defender against the ravages of the Dark) and his strange universe, and ran with it.  I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the excerpts of other Hiram works I’ve read in Shroud and look forward to reading and reviewing Kevin’s debut, which is Book 4 in this series.
