FenCon Award Certificate

I don’t know if you remember a while back when I indicated that I had some writing news I couldn’t talk about?  Well now I can…

Last night at the opening ceremonies for FenCon VII, they announced results of their short story contest…and I got third place!  I was notified a couple of weeks ago but needed to keep quiet on the social media front until the formal announcements.

The story I submitted is called “Gauntlet” and is another adventure with Lou, the protagonist I created for the flash fiction bit I did called “I’m In Love With My Car“.  I’m quite pleased, overall, with the story and am very pleased to have it recognized.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t room in the program to print it.  However, I may give it a few tweaks and start sending it to various markets to see if it can get published!

So please let me indulge in a bit of unfettered excitement until I start having to buckle-down and work on “what’s next”.

About Shedrick

I am a professional librarian and a part-time writer that's working to do that the other way around. I currently live in North Texas in the lovely city of Denton (“The Home of Happiness“) with my lovely wife and the obligatory demon-spawn cats. When not writing, gaming, or watching cheezy kung-fu flicks, I can sometimes be found in a pub (or the American equivalent) enjoying a fine brew.

I was there the night of the awards, I witnessed the awardings, I saw the Borg Rabbit, and I was not assimilated. Can you see me in the picture? I’m behind the photographer making Borg Bunny ears so Shedrick would smile.
