Nevermet Press

I realize that I’ve really been slacking on my content lately.  It’s been an odd few weeks and I’m in the midst of regrouping.  One project that I’d like to announce is that I’ve become a “content developer” for Nevermet Press.  I’ve submitted two pieces so far that are slated for online publication later this month.

Nevermet offers community-driven (or “crowd-sourced”) tabletop role-playing game content.  This content is system-independent, though they also accept submissions of statblocks from any system (“Distributed Workshop”).  Content developers (writers, artists, editors, etc.) are folks who have signed on to contribute and develop the site’s content.  Most have been active in the RPG blogging community (I would be an exception to this).  Each publication cycle a variety of content is provided focused around a single theme (a particular villain, a setting, etc.).  Submissions include locations, encounters, villains/NPCs, objects, etc.  The content is provided under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike license, reemphasizing NMP’s commitment to community-driven, shared material.  Because the content is system-independent, you essentially get a lot of story/character-driven materials which can really enhance a campaign…it’s not always about the stats.

My experience so far has been extremely positive.  NMP has attracted a group of highly creative and friendly folks who embrace collaboration.  Revenue-wise, it will be interesting to see how the endeavor fares.  I like the overall model: content developers each get a piece of the revenue pie based on how much content they contribute.  Pretty simple, very fair.  Currently NMP material is available for subscription on Amazon’s Kindle.  Future sources of revenue could be advertising, collaborative opportunities, or just altruistic support (aka “donations”).  Regardless, NMP represents a great opportunity to work with other creators in a professional but low-pressure and supportive environment.  It’s an opportunity I’m happy to take advantage of.

So, take a look at the site…heck, get involved!  I have a “shout out” logo on the right-hand tool bar of the blog that will take you straight there (you may have scroll down a bit).  Look for my materials in future (mid-late August).

And, BTW…it’s “NeverMET Press”, not “NeverMEET Press”.  Just want to make that clear 🙂

About Shedrick

I am a professional librarian and a part-time writer that's working to do that the other way around. I currently live in North Texas in the lovely city of Denton (“The Home of Happiness“) with my lovely wife and the obligatory demon-spawn cats. When not writing, gaming, or watching cheezy kung-fu flicks, I can sometimes be found in a pub (or the American equivalent) enjoying a fine brew.
