Wow…
Yesterday I posted a review of Wil Wheaton’s book Just a Geek. I really enjoyed the book and had fun describing why. I get a kick out of writing reviews. I had a couple of bone-head errors (which have since been rectified), but I was (and am) satisfied with the results.
Apparently Mr. Wheaton saw the review and tweeted about it, providing a link. Naturally, my geek-o-meter started heading into the red.
I am also fairly obsessive about logging in and checking my blog stats. Using my non-scientific eyeball method, I’d say that on a day in which I post new content, I average between 5-10 hits. Visits will drop off dramatically after that unless I post new content. My stat chart usually looks like a lot of upside down “V”s.
When I posted a review of the latest Black Gate Magazine, my hits increased to around 34 or so for a day or two until settling down once again. This sharp uptick made me ecstatic (and still does!). People I don’t know are reading my posts! Huzzah!
Yesterday evening, after posting my Geek review, I received SIX-HUNDRED-AND-TWENTY-ONE hits (that’s 621 for those that flinched for my yelling). Holy schnikes! As of this morning I have received over 400 more. Naturally, my geek-o-meter may now be in need of an upgrade.
So, if you are a new visitor, welcome! Prop up your feet and feel free to stay awhile. Make comments. Bookmark me, feed me, use me as you will. Get distracted!
Wow…I’ve made it to #53 on WordPress’ top blogs today. Madness!
Well, yesterday we got 760 more visits and made it up to #41 on the Top Blog list. The traffic has made it up to only 7 today so my “15 minutes of blog fame” has probably flamed out. It was fun while it lasted. Hopefully at least a few people who visited for the “Geek” review will stick around. I guess that depends if I can keep providing content people want to read. Thanks everybody for stopping by!
