Putting My Toe In…

Tomorrow I will be attending a meeting of the Denton Writers League.  I’ve never sat in on a writer’s group before and am curious as to what the experience will be like.

I tend to play my writing a bit close to the vest.  With the exception of my lovely-and-talented wife, no one sees my writing until I feel like I’m completely finished with it.  Needless to say (but apparently I’m saying it anyway), working with a group makes me a little anxious.  But I also think that it will be necessary in order for me to move forward as a writer.

My hope is that I’ll get plenty of tips and good advice.  I also hope that by working in a group that there will be expectations to produce.  That way I may stay on track and keep going.  Discipline has never been my strong suit.

So, we’ll see how it goes.  I need a group that maintains an open and comfortable atmosphere and that instills a need to keep producing.  Hopefully this will be such a group.

About Shedrick

I am a professional librarian and a part-time writer that's working to do that the other way around. I currently live in North Texas in the lovely city of Denton (“The Home of Happiness“) with my lovely wife and the obligatory demon-spawn cats. When not writing, gaming, or watching cheezy kung-fu flicks, I can sometimes be found in a pub (or the American equivalent) enjoying a fine brew.
